Boys and their toys

I don't think I will ever understand fully what men/boys see in cars/gadgets etc but more than that I can 99.9% be sure that I will NEVER understand the appeal of fantasy card games!!

I'm currently crashing at my old uni housemates's new place and since leaving them  over a year ago they seem to have moved on from ps/xbox games (they are game design students FYI..I know explains a lot right?!?!) to these weird fantasy card games that tbh I've never really seen the appeal, personally. Now don't get me wrong, each to their own and all that, but seriously what ever happened to just playing regular card games like snap, rummy, pairs etc? Since when did we have to start including magic, monsters, spell casting etc in our card games? Though I will say one good thing about these types of cards and that is the illustration/graphics on most of them are pretty good :) But seriously, guys take these types of games way too seriously to a point where I half expect them to pull out a wand all Harry Potter style and start 'magically' shooting spells across the room.

(see said the graphics were good)

So as you can tell from the pictures above the game is called Magic: The Gathering. Don't ask me how you play it or what happens because even as I am typing this blog their playing it in the lounge, which means that I have to listen to them going into in depth conversations about it when I all I want to do is go to bed, so instead I'm forced to blog/rant about it instead. So if you want to know more click on the link and you can find out about it (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Summoner/).

If you do play this game/type of game, please don't take offence it's just not my cup of tea and something that has seriously baffled me (and yes before you ask I have tried to play these types of games but they just aren't my thing).

Hope your having a more interesting day/night than I am :)

That awkward moment

When you meet your ex's new girlfriend is an experience most of go through and all of us dread. I recently went back to Portsmouth to visit some friends and as I'm on pretty good terms with my ex (i'll no doubt divulge more info on this in another blog), this meant seeing him too, what I wasn't prepared for was meeting his new girlfriend.
To say I was little nervous would be an understatement of gross proportions. I didn't know what to expect; would we get on or not, what if I don't like her and the big one....what if they start making out in front of me?! But alas none of that happened, well they did kiss but that's about it, we got on really well, turns out we have a similar sense of humour. Was it strange seeing him kiss someone else of course, but the worst part for me is knowing that even as his best friend, when things kick off or go wrong he wont turn to me anymore but its a case of either get used to it or let it effect everyone so what can I do?

My 3 top tips for surviving the meet the new girlfriend moment

1 - smile, regardless how your feeling don't stop smiling, even if she is a total Bitch

2 - if you can avoid being caught alone, especially with her you'll no doubt have to endure the patronizing, I'm the new girlfriend but he still cares about you speech

And

3 - if you can arrange to meet her in a group setting that way any awkwardness can be covered by the group, same goes for awkward silences.

Oh and no matter what she says/does etc just remember you were there first and no matter what you probably will never want to go back, if you do well that's a blog for another time :)

Hugs and kisses XOXO

The Single Girls To Do (Resolutions) List

                                                         NEW YEAR NEW YOU!!

So it's that time of the year again; where the winter blues are almost behind you, the xmas/nye parties are done, your resolutions have been made and life gets back to normal. Your back to work, your social life goes back to seeing friends once or twice a week (if your lucky) and your bank balance is virtually non-existent...so what do you do to make the weeks go by, attempt to stick to the resolutions you made on seeing the new year in. Now we can probably all admit that were guilty of not keeping to our resolutions for longer than a month or two, and I'm one of the worst, to a point where I haven't really made any in years because I never stick to them. This year however I will!! And thanks, in partly to this blog, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will. So here goes my Single Girls To Do List - Resolutions style.

  1.           Join and stick to going to Zumba every week
  2.           Eat breakfast every day
  3.           Upload more videos/blog, at least 3 a month!
  4.           Find a job that I actually like
  5.           Find a flat/house and move out of parents place
  6.           Take a course in first aid
  7.           Take a course in sign language
  8.           Finish Anna Karenina (especially before the film comes out)
  9.           Travel more
  10.           Smile more :D

Ok so I know 10 resolutions seems like a lot, but really the only ones I will actually be sticking to are 1,2 and 3....the rest are more things to do but they are on my list anyway so tough :) (see I'm already sticking to no 10) So as for how I am going to stick to them...well here is my plan.....

Number 1) Go to Zumba - the best thing you can do when thinking of joining a gym or losing weight etc is to do it with friends, people you know who will motivate you to get off your back side get up and go work out, or if you really can't make it for whatever reason, someone who will make you work double to amount the next week to catch up on the week you missed. It also helps to have someone with you who you can bitch/moan/mock other people at the gym with...after all they say laughing helps you lose weight :)

Number 2) Eat breakfast everyday - So as this is more of a solo task my plan is to start a breakfast diary, whether or not I do a blog post on it I don't know, I may do a weekly breakfast post with photo's of what I've had...to keep me going or if not I may keep a food diary of what I've eaten or plan on eating to make sure I do.

Number 3) Upload more videos - So for those of you who don't know I do beauty videos on youtube and if I'm honest I've failed at it since I joined. I haven't really got into a regular pattern with it, and have only uploaded videos every now and then so this year I want to get better and properly use my channel, if I don't then I will take it down as its pretty pointless :/

As for the rest, well like I said they are more to do list type of tasks than actual resolutions but who knows, I will keep you all informed on what is going on but for now I am going to finish my cup of tea, read for a little bit and go to sleep as it is 1:07 a.m right now.

Hope you all had a lovely time over the holidays and that this new year brings everything you could hope for :)

xoxo
